BHSU crowns 2012 Swarm Week Royalty

Seth Courtney, a communication major from Belle Fourche, and Hannah Kloiber, a business administration major from Parker, Colo., were crowned the 2012 Swarm Week king and queen at Black Hills State University last night.

Also part of the royal court were homecoming king candidates Markus Heinrich, business administration  major from Whitewood; Dathan Rappana, mass communication major from Montrose; Daniel Fairchild, history education major from Armour; Joseph Nagle, outdoor education major from Davenport, Iowa; and Daniel Hunt, history major from Colorado Springs, Colo.

Queen candidates included Taylor Degen, psychology major from Spearfish; Samantha Nelson, biology education major from Creighton; Brooke Geier, business administration-marketing major from Spearfish; Nicole Dickenson, psychology major from Davenport, Iowa.; and Brittney Seitz, speech communications major from Black Hawk.

Kelly Kirk, an instructor with the School of Mathematics and Social Sciences, was named Swarm Week mom, and Bert Juhrend, associate professor of theater, was chosen as Swarm Week dad.

The Swarm Week festivities continue all week long concluding Saturday with the Swarm Day parade, tailgate at the Young Center and the BHSU football game against the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks.

Entries for the Swarm Day parade are still being accepted. If you wish to participate in the parade contact the Student Union Information Center at 642-6062 or visit www.BHSU.edu/SwarmDays. The parade theme is “Operation: Swarm Day.” Participants are encouraged to design parade entries with a military theme as a show of support to the deployed 842nd National Guard Unit which is expected to return next week.
