BHSU assistant health professor presents at national conference

Sandy Klarenbeek, assistant health professor at Black Hills State University, was invited to provide professional development at the Chief Council of State School Officers’, Health Education Assessment Project (HEAP) meeting held in Washington D.C. in June.

Sandy Klarenbeek and Dr. Joanna Jones, Jones Literature LLC, coauthored “Using Literature to Teach Health: A Teacher’s Guide to a HEAP of Books.” At the HEAP professional development meeting, Klarenbeek and Jones provided health educators with professional language and understanding to collaborate with reading educators as the Common Core Standards become fully implemented by 2014.
