Max Downs, speech communication major from Rapid City, and his partner Alexa Syverson, speech communication major from Rapid City, were chosen as one of 64 semifinalists in the Irene Ryan Acting Competition. There were nearly 300 nominees competing.

During the festival, the students had the opportunity to attend several plays and acting workshops.  Dr. Pamela Wegner, professor of speech and theatre at BHSU, presented two acting workshops in collaboration with other students in the region.   According to Wegner, the festival is a great learning opportunity for BHSU theatre students.
