SD CEO to host business seminar on bank financing

The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) at Black Hills State University will host a business seminar on “Getting Bank Financing – What Matters and Finding Money for your Small Business” Thursday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the University Center-Rapid City.

The seminar will offer training and resources to individuals who want to start a new business or strengthen and grow an existing one. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and training starts and 9 a.m.

Guest speakers include: Ted Bangert, vice president of mortgage and business lending, Black Hills Federal Credit Union; Fran White, Black Hills Community Economic Development; and Chris Maxwell, business and community development director, Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED).

Topics will include: building a business plan from the banker’s point of view; reviewing SBA 504 loans for purchasing; expanding and refinancing a business; and learning more about GOED Micro Loans.

The SD CEO is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Association (SBA) and provides business assistance and training to current and prospective entrepreneurs from start-up to expansion in order to foster economic development in South Dakota. While services are available to all those interested in entrepreneurship, there is a special emphasis on women, women veterans, Native Americans, the socially and/or economically disadvantaged, and youth entrepreneurs.
