Several hundred students from middle and high school jazz bands and choirs from four states will participate in the 30th annual Black Hills Jazz Festival Monday, April 4 on the Black Hills State University campus.
Performances begin at 8 a.m. and continue to 4:30 p.m. Choir performances will be held in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union Jacket Legacy Room. Band performances will be held in Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall. Following the performances, the awards ceremony will be held in Meier Recital Hall at 5 p.m.
Schools participating include Sundance, Buffalo, and Gillette, Wyoming; Bayard, Nebraska; Williston. North Dakota; and Spearfish, Belle Fourche, Miller, St. Thomas More, Jones County, Miller, and Hot Springs, South Dakota. Categories include swing/show choirs, vocal jazz groups, jazz bands, and jazz combos.
