Yankton community raises nearly $3,000 for dual enrollment scholarships

High school students now have the opportunity to take a dual credit course through Black Hills State University and Yankton High School thanks to community donations of $2,850.

Next school year, students enrolled at Yankton High School are eligible to take Manufacturing Technology as a three-credit course from BHSU. Since it is an accredited state program, it will be transferable to whichever post-secondary institution the student chooses to pursue after high school.

“This is a great chance to recruit high schools students into the manufacturing program. It’s also a chance for the greater Yankton community to recruit and train our future workforce,” said Josh Svatos, General Manager at Regional Technical Education Center (RTEC), the facility where BHSU conducts classes in Yankton.

BHSU provides Advanced Manufacturing instruction in Yankton in, offering an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree program. For more information visit
