C-U-R-E office at BHSU seeking individuals for March of Dimes WalkAmerica 2007

The Black Hills State University Community-University-Resource-Exchange (C-U-R-E) office is coordinating BHSU individuals for the March of Dimes WalkAmerica 2007. If you are interested in walking, contact Janette Hettick, VISTA volunteer, at 642-6471 or JanetteHettick@bhsu.edu for more information.

The local sponsor for this year’s event is Premier Bankcard; the state sponsor is Sanford Healthcare; and the national sponsor is K-Mart.

The event will be held Saturday, May 5 in the Spearfish City Park. Sign-up begins at 9 a.m. at the park pavilion with the walk starting at 10 a.m. This is a 3.5 mile walk, with a walker appreciation lunch provided afterwards. This year proceeds will benefit local family Troy and Jodi Ludens, and baby Travis, of Spearfish.

The March of Dimes' mission is to fight premature birth, which is the #1 cause of newborn death. WalkAmerica dollars are spent funding preventative research, educating women and health care professionals about premature labor signs and prevention, and providing information and emotional support to families of premature babies.

If you cannot walk but wish to help, you may donate at www.walkamerica.org.
