Black Hills State University will host Make a Difference Day in Spearfish Saturday, Oct. 23. Activities begin at 8:30 am Saturday with a free kick-off breakfast for all participants in the BHSU Hive dining hall.
Service projects will begin around 9 a.m. and will last 3-6 hours depending on the project. Those interested in participating can work on one of the projects organized by the Office of Civic Engagement or set up a project of their own. Projects already organized include: Spearfish Canyon Cleanup, Dorsett Home, Humane Society, Spearfish Cleanup, Safeway Food Drive, Artemis House, and Trick-or-Treat So Others Can Eat
Make a Difference Day, the largest national day of service, is in its 19th year nationally and 7th year in Spearfish. On the last Make a Difference Day, a record 3 million volunteers participated and an estimated 28 million people-in-need benefited. The event is sponsored by USA Weekend Magazine in partnership with the Hands On Network.
