Make A Difference Day events planned for October 23 at BHSU

Black Hills State University will host Make a Difference Day in Spearfish Saturday, Oct. 23. Activities begin at 8:30 am Saturday with a free kick-off breakfast for all participants in the BHSU Hive dining hall.

Service projects will begin around 9 a.m. and will last 3-6 hours depending on the project. Those interested in participating can work on one of the projects organized by the Office of Civic Engagement or set up a project of their own. Projects already organized include: Spearfish Canyon Cleanup, Dorsett Home, Humane Society, Spearfish Cleanup, Safeway Food Drive, Artemis House, and Trick-or-Treat So Others Can Eat

Make a Difference Day, the largest national day of service, is in its 19th year nationally and 7th year in Spearfish. On the last Make a Difference Day, a record 3 million volunteers participated and an estimated 28 million people-in-need benefited. The event is sponsored by USA Weekend Magazine in partnership with the Hands On Network.

Community members are welcome to participate. For more information, please call the BHSU Office of Civic Engagement at 642-6471 or email Richard.Raridon@BHSU.edu.
