Dessert theatre to be performed at BHSU

Three Black Hills State University students will be performing The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged in a dessert theatre performance in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union Jacket Legacy Room April 19-21 at 7:30 p.m. and April 22 at 2:30 p.m.

In less than two hours, the student performers plan to deliver all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays in a humorous, high-speed performance. The routine will include a rap version of Othello, King Lear at a football game, and Hamlet’s advice to finger puppets. The show recognizes that the best way to honor Shakespeare is not to be stuffy, but simply entertaining.

Performers include freshman speech communication major Andrew Rexroad, Black Hawk; senior English major Jared McDaris, Spearfish; and freshman political science major Phil Braun, Gregory.

Cost for admission is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children and seniors. Admission is free to BHSU faculty, staff and students. The purchase of one $6 dessert is required for all attendees. For more information, contact Burt Juhrend at 642-6268.
