BHSU to host First Fridays this semester

Black Hills State University will begin the “First Fridays: Breakfast with the Arts” series Sept. 3 at 9:30 a.m., in Clare & Josef Meier Hall, Room 128 on the BHSU campus.

Everyone is welcome to enjoy a short music performance by a music student or faculty member. Free coffee and muffins will be provided at the event as well as parking permits.

The September program “Meet the Faculty” will be an introduction to the current and new music faculty members, featuring a short recital by the newest faculty member, Dr. Symeon Waseen, assistant professor of music.
The First Friday performances are supported by the Friends of Music organization. With the help of the organization BHSU students are being prepared for careers as music professionals in education, performance, and various related venues. Last year $7,300 in Friends of Music Scholarships were awarded to 16 students.

These monthly events will feature student performances throughout the semester. For more information contact Randall Royer at or 605.642.6255.
