The SD Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) at Black Hills State University recently received a $2,000 grant in support of its mission to provide business assistance and training to current and aspiring entrepreneurs from the Rapid City Branch of American Association of University Women. Helen Merriman, director of the SDCEO, says the SD CEO was chosen for this grant because its goals fit with AAUW’s mission to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research. The SD CEO has a special emphasis on rural women, Native Americans, the socially disadvantaged, youth, and women veterans. Critical skills, knowledge, tools, and a support network are provided to help with starting and growing a business. The Center, located on the campus of Black Hills State University, is associated with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
