Grants received at Black Hills State University

Black Hills State University has recently received the following grants.

  • $799,250 from the U.S. Department of Energy (subaward from the South Dakota Energy Management Office) for energy efficiency upgrades.
  • $319,166 from the U.S. Department of Energy (subaward from the South Dakota Department of Transportation) for construction of a pathway at BHSU to improve safety and increase pedestrian/bicycle traffic.
  • $150,000 from the U.S. Small Business Administration for a South Dakota Women’s Business Center.
  • $100,000 from the U.S. Department of Education (subaward from the South Dakota Board of Regents) for Title IIA, South Dakota Counts—Middle School, West, Year Three.
  • $99,767 from the U.S. Department of Labor, State Energy Sector Partnership (subaward from the South Dakota Department of Labor) for increasing energy efficiency and employment opportunities. BHSU will offer South Dakota’s first Energy Management Certificate.
  • $80,200 from the South Dakota Board of Regents for metagenomic analysis of drainage and service water in the Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (DUSEL) at the Homestake Mine.
  • $74,362 from the Corporation for National and Community Services for Northern Black Hills Retired Service Volunteer Program.
  • $50,000 from the U.S. Department of Education (subaward from the South Dakota Board of Regents) for Title IIA, inquiry-based physics.
  • $49,947 from the U.S. Department of Education (subaward from the South Dakota Board of Regents) for Title IIA, modeling physics instruction in South Dakota 2010.
  • $43,309 from the South Dakota Board of Regents for Efficacy of hops to control saprolegnia on salmonid eggs.
  • $33,122 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families (subaward from Chiesman Foundation for Democracy) for strengthening communities.
  • $19,000 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (subaward from the South Dakota Department of Social Services) for Northern Black Hills Retired Service Volunteer Program.
  • $9,180 from South Dakota Department of Health for consultant contract / letter of agreement for the school grant program.
  • $3,250 from NASA (subaward from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology) for South Dakota Space Grant Consortium—NASA / Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (DUSEL) Research Center for probing the earth’s interior.
  • $3,000 from Native Voices for Wicoiye: An Institute in Native Language Teaching Methods for South Dakota Instructors of Lakota.
