BHSU offer driver’s education program for instructors

Black Hills State University is offering a Driver Education Program this summer to train instructors for driver’s education.
The program provides courses needed to obtain the South Dakota 7-12 Driver Education endorsement (24:15:06:30) for school teachers. Participants seeking this endorsement must complete the following three courses.

  • IE 450: Occupational and Safety Education- Online course
    June 7- July 2
  • DRED 460: Driver and Traffic Safety Education
    July 6 – July 19, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Spearfish High School in Spearfish
  • DRED 480: Special Methods in the Teaching of Driver Education
    July 6 – July 19, Monday through Friday from 1 p.m.-5:30 p.m. at the Spearfish High School in Spearfish

According to Rajeev Bukralia, dean of Educational Outreach, BHSU launched the Driver's Education Endorsement program in 2008 to meet the needs of teachers. The program was continued this summer to meet the additional demand for driver’s education teachers.
