Dancer/Choreographer to teach at Johanna Meier Opera Theatre Institute

Dance artist Melanie Lien Palm will conduct workshops for local students as part of the Johanna Meier Opera Theatre Institute held on the Black Hills State University campus, June 14-25.

Dance artist Melanie Lien Palm will conduct workshops for local students as part of the Johanna Meier Opera Theatre Institute held on the Black Hills State University campus, June 14-25.

Lien Palm’s professional dance performance career spanned 20 years in 11 countries throughout North America, Europe and Asia. She has been a choreographer, dance and movement teacher for years, working with students in venues as diverse as Tisch School of the Arts in New York City, N.Y., and School for the Visually Impaired in Aberdeen.

Lien Palm’s focus on creative dance offers students a unique and valuable quality experience as part of the Institute. Students will be exposed to a variety of music, including international cultures and languages.

The Johanna Meier Opera Theatre Institute is sponsored by Black Hills State University, with support provided by the South Dakota Arts Council with funds from the State of South Dakota, through the Department of Tourism and State Development, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
