Black Hills State University will induct BHSU student members into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 307 May 1 at 3 p.m. in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union Jacket Legacy Room.
Seniors in the top 10 percent of their class and juniors in the top seven-and-a-half percent of their class, as well as various graduate students have been invited to join.
Phi Kappa Phi was founded at the University of Maine in 1897. The society has chapters all across the nation and in Puerto Rico and the Philippines. Currently headquartered in Baton Rouge, La., Phi Kappa Phi inducts more than 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff, and alumni annually. Some of the organization’s more notable members include former President Jimmy Carter; Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton; NASA astronaut Wendy Lawrence; writer John Grisham; opera singer Renee Fleming; journalist and broadcaster Deborah Norville; and Netscape founder James Barksdale.
