Black Hills State University announces a new name and slogan for its summer theatre program―Summer Stage: Great Plays, Great Prices.
“The new name and slogan provides an instant image of who we are and what we do,” explained Albert Juhrend, artistic director of the Summer Stage program. “We wanted something fresh to go along with the recent facility upgrades.”
Last year the Tom and Judy Flickema courtyard, named for the former BHSU president and his wife, was added and Woodburn Hall saw several improvements including a new elevator leading up to the historic Woodburn Theatre.
“The beautifully landscaped courtyard provides a place for people to mingle with the cast during intermission, while enjoying an ice cream bar or cold drink,” Juhrend says. “The new elevator provides easy access for all theatre patrons. “
Improvements have taken place inside the theatre as well. The sound, lighting, and cooling system have been upgraded. Plans for the 2011 season include a central air conditioning system.
The BHSU summer theatre program, now in its fourth year, is committed to providing affordable, quality, live theatre entertainment.
