BHSU student- Tyson Karn receives national award


Tyson Karn, Black Hills State University senior physical education major from Rapid City, earned the 2010 Outstanding Major of the Year designation. This marks three years in a row that BHSU students have received this national recognition.

The Outstanding Major of the Year Award is given to honor exemplary students majoring in physical education, sport management, athletic training, and the sub-disciplines of kinesiology from across the country through the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE).

Kristen Engle received the 2009 Outstanding Major of the Year Award and Matt Oliver received the 2008 Outstanding Major of the Year Award.

The Outstanding Major of the Year Award is given to a current National Association for Sport & Physical Education (NASPE) junior or senior status member. Karn will be recognized this spring at the National American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD) National Convention March 16-20 in Indianapolis, Ind.
