Herseth to speak at BHSU

Rep. Stephanie Herseth, D-S.D., will speak at Black Hills State University Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union Jacket Legacy Room. Herseth will discuss her work in Washington D.C. as South Dakota’s sole representative.

Herseth is South Dakota’s at-large member of Congress. She is a member of the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of moderate Democrats committed to fiscal discipline and strong national security, and is co-chair of the Rural Working Group, which is dedicated to raise the profile of issues important to rural America.

Herseth also serves on committees that are vital to South Dakota’s interests: Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs and Resources. She is a ranking member on the Veterans’ Affairs subcommittee on Economic Opportunity.

Herseth’s presentation is sponsored by the Black Hills State University Chiesman Foundation. The Chiesman Center for Democracy is an organization that provides opportunities and support for promoting and supporting democratic principles and practices through its projects that focus on: K-12 civic education; civic engagement and public policy analysis; and educational, social, and health research.
