The Career Center at Black Hills State University has two upcoming career events that are open to the public and can be of great benefit to job seekers and new professionals.
Everyone is feeling the economic crunch right now, and it’s hardest on those without or between jobs. BHSU is committed to the Spearfish community and its needs, according to Arlene Holmes, director of the Career Center.
Saturday, Jan. 30, BHSU will be hosting the annual career management conference: Beyond Your Resume 3. Keynote Lisa Langer of the Spearfish Chamber of Commerce offers an interactive session on being a professional, making personal connections for success, and keeping a winning attitude. Other sessions during the conference focus on workplace etiquette, federal opportunities, financial planning, and others.
The event is free to BHSU students and alumni, but is also open to the public. General admission is just $25, and $15 with a student ID from a regional school. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. To pre-register email the Career Center at Careers@BHSU.edu.
The Career Center will also be hosting the Spring Career Fair Feb. 11 in the Young Center. Job seekers can learn about and apply for full-time, part-time, seasonal and internship positions. The fair is free and open to the public. For more information contact the BHSU Career Center at 642-6277.
