BHSU faculty and friends will present "A Cole Porter Evening"

The concert, featuring the music of Cole Porter, will be Friday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the recital hall in Clare and Josef Meier Hall.

The music of Cole Porter will be featured in a special one-hour program by Black Hills State University music faculty and friends Friday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the recital hall in Clare and Josef Meier Hall.

Porter is known for his musical “Kiss Me Kate” and popular show tunes such as “Begin the Beguine,” “I Love Paris,” and “Night and Day.” His biography was the basis of the award-winning movie “De-Lovely.”

The concert is open to the public at no charge, but donations for BHSU music scholarships will be accepted at the door.

After the concert, the performers will hold a jam session from 9 to 11 p.m. at the Knight’s Cellar on Main Street in Spearfish. A variety of jazz pieces will be performed.

Performers include: Guido Della Vecchia, tenor; Susan Hove-Pabst, soprano; Stephen Parker, bass-baritone; Christopher Hahn, trumpet, Randall Royer, guitar; Janeen Larsen, piano; Terry Rathbun, drums; and Chris Roman, string bass.
