BHSU offers online options for teachers

Black Hills State University offers several online education opportunities certified teachers.

The Special Education Endorsement Online program is designed for teachers who have three years of general classroom teaching experience and requires the passage of the state special education teacher licensing examination. The required three- or four-hour practicum is completed under the supervision of a certified special education teacher and a university supervisor.

The Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction program offers a specialization in reading and technology to certified teachers that is delivered via distance learning. The cohort model of delivery provides 60 percent of the coursework as face-to-face and 40 percent online. Completion of this program will expands understanding of research and research-based practices and prepares graduates for positions beyond the classroom. The BHSU Curriculum and Instruction degree facilitates professional growth, applies graduate work directly in the classroom, and connects theory and practice.
