Ribbon cutting set for Business Enterprise Center at BHSU

Black Hills State University will host a ribbon cutting and open house for the recently established South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. in Woodburn Hall, Room 211.

The SD CEO, funded by a $750,000 Small Business Administration grant, provides management and technical assistance, comprehensive training, and counseling for entrepreneurs. The center is part of a network of more than 75 centers nationwide established through the SBA women’s business funding.

According to Helen Merriman, director of the SD CEO, the goal of the center is to work with aspiring entrepreneurs and provide support through education, counseling, training, and advocacy in all stages of business development.

“Please join us for the ribbon cutting as we celebrate this new opportunity for South Dakota’s businesses and entrepreneurs,” Merriman says. “We are looking forward to working with entrepreneurs and small business owners in the state. It’s our goal to assist them in reaching their goal of establishing and successfully managing their own businesses.”

Merriman and, program assistant, Chris Coolidge have office hours from 8 a.m.-until 5 p.m. or by appointment. For more information or to schedule an appointment call SD CEO at 642-6311.

The SD CEO is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
