| Black Hills State University recently hosted accounting showcases sponsored by the S.D. CPA Society. The event gave BHSU students the opportunity to visit and network with local accounting firms. |
Nearly 150 people attended two South Dakota Certified Public Accountant Society Accounting Showcases in Spearfish and Rapid City, hosted by Black Hills State University.
The showcases were opened with a greeting from Dr. Priscilla Romkema, the dean of College of Business and Technology, followed by a presentation by Laura Coome, executive director or the S.D. CPA Society, titled “Top Ten Reasons to be a CPA.”
Breakout sessions were held during the showcase to give students the opportunity to ask questions of the CPAs from Ketel Thorstenson, LLP, Casey Peterson & Associates, LLC, ELO Prof. LLC, DeSmet & Biggs, LLP, David Pummel & Associates, Rapid City School District, and Duhamel Broadcasting.
The event was organized by the accounting professors of BHSU, Dr. David Crawford, Liz Diers, and Laura Prosser and sponsored by the S.D. CPA society.
