Career workshop held at Fort Meade

Deaver Traywick, Writing Center Director, recently presented a workshop to current federal employees at Fort Meade who are transitioning out of their current positions into new opportunities within Veteran’s Affairs.

Sara Elias and Arlene Holmes of the BHSU Career Center assisted Traywick by presenting training on writing strategies designed to strengthen a job applicant’s ability and skills in federal job search documents.

The BHSU staff members also presented job search strategies for the public and private sector of employment. Bob Downs, business office manager for the VA Black Hills Health Care System, initiated the workshop for the employees under his supervision who are being reorganized and must apply for new positions. Many on his staff have held their positions for several years and are not familiar with current job search strategies and writing techniques.
