Swarm Day king and queen named

Phil Braun, senior theatre and mass communication from Gregory, and Kayla Schuring, senior elementary education major from Groton, were named the 2009 Swarm Day king and queen at Black Hills State University.

Phil Braun, senior theatre and mass communication from Gregory, and Kayla Schuring, senior elementary education major from Groton, were named the 2009 Swarm Day king and queen at Black Hills State University last night.

Homecoming royalty candidates were Alex Hanson, senior professional accountancy major from Aberdeen; Steven Doyle, senior business management major, from Rapid City; Joshua Wood senior physical education major from Manitou Springs, Colo.; Dylan Wince, senior social science and history education major from Rapid City; Kimberly Ulmen, senior music education from Kadoka; Ashley Uthe, senior elementary education major from Presho; Ashton VandenHoek, senior vocal music education major from Grand Rapids, Mich.; Morgan Casey, senior elementary education major from Yankton.

Dr. Jane Klug, director of student services, was chosen as Swarm Day mom and Dr. Ahrar Ahmad, professor of political science, was chosen as Swarm Day dad.

This year’s homecoming theme is “Starring Sting” with the Yellow Jacket (Sting, the mascot) in the lead role of favorite movies.

All alumni are invited back to campus to celebrate Swarm Week. This year BHSU is also hosting reunions for students who were associated with KBHU and all volleyball players.
