Game time has been set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 for the Black Hills State University 2008 NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round at the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center at Black Hills State University. The Yellow Jacket volleyball team is making their first-ever appearance in the national tournament.
This year’s team has had an exceptional season winning the Dakota Athletic Conference (DAC) and reaching the national championship opening round. Coach Jhett Albers, who has led the BHSU volleyball team since 1999, has the squad in excellent form heading into the postseason. The Yellow Jackets, who are 24-6, are preparing to host William Penn University.
The game has been designated a “Fear the Sting” night and fans are encouraged to wear their gold apparel to cheer on the Yellow Jacket volleyball team on their homecourt. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students. The first 100 fans will receive a large foam hand-shaped cheering mitt. BHSU apparel will be available for purchase prior to the game.
The NAIA opening round pairings for the 29th Annual NAIA Volleyball National Championship will be played Nov. 22 at different on-campus sites including the action scheduled at BHSU. Winners of each opening round match will advance to the final site in Sioux City, Iowa. The tournament will be held at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena from Dec. 2-6, 2008 in Sioux City.
