Black Hills State University will be the host site for a Scrubs Camp for area high school students Saturday, Nov. 22 from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
The camp provides South Dakota high school students a chance to discover the healthcare field by offering them an opportunity to explore and experience various healthcare industry careers.
Scrubs Camp is a day-long event where students will hear from a variety of healthcare professionals in the Black Hills area, who will discuss what they do in their field and how they got into their professions. Students will also have a chance to experience many hands-on activities throughout the day and learn about career shadowing opportunities.
Demonstrations will include long-term care, physical education, health and wellness, environmental health and safety, and personal protective equipment in the case of a bioterrorism event.
Participants in the camp will receive free lunch, a scrub shirt, and an informational CD about personal learning plans and post-secondary South Dakota health science programs. This is one of eight camps that the South Dakota Department of Education is hosting throughout the state.
The deadline to register for the camp is Wednesday, Nov. 12. To sign up fill out the registration form and mail to:
