BHSU theatre department to perform original play on University history

Black Hills State University Theatre Department will be performing "Letters from the Past" Oct. 16-18 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 19 at 2:30 p.m. in the Woodburn Theatre.

The production was written by Jessica Juhrend, sophomore speech communications major from Spearfish; choreographed by various theater students; and is under the musical direction by Mary McGillivray, senior composite music major from Sheridan, Wyo.  The story is about a student writing a paper on the history of her school.  She discovers letters from students describing the school.  Each decade depicted will be accompanied by a musical number.

This is the final of a year-long series of events in celebration of the University’s Quasquicentennial.  The Oct. 17 performance will offer a book signing by Paul Higbee and photographer Les Voorhis, creators of the Black Hills State University 125th Anniversary publication.  Books will be available for purchase.

Tickets for the theatre performance will be $6 at the door and $3 for seniors.  BHSU faculty, staff, and students are admitted free of charge.  For more information, call 642-6268.
