BHSU seeks participants for online special education endorsement

Black Hills State University is offering an online special education endorsement for currently certified teachers with classroom experience.

The special education endorsement is now offered entirely online through a six million dollar grant held in partnership with BHSU and Technology and Innovation in Education (TIE). Certified teachers can earn this endorsement in just two years.

According to the United States Department of Labor, employment opportunities for special education teachers are expected to increase faster than the average for all occupations in the United States through 2014.

BHSU also offers a fast-track teacher certification program, Project SELECT, for those who may have a college degree in a field other than education.

For those meeting eligibility criteria for either program, scholarships may be available to help cover tuition, transportation, living needs, child care, and other costs.
