The NHES recently published a document on revised standards. A training session was held for state teams to become familiar with these revised standards and performance indicators. The training was funded through a Center for Disease Control and Prevention grant.
According to Klarenbeek, HEAP is the only organization in the world that has developed assessment items that measure health literacy. She presented research that was co-conducted with Dr. Joanna Jones, assistant education professor at BHSU.
Klarenbeek and Jones have been collaborating to educate pre-service and in-service teachers to align health and reading to improve health literacy.
