BHSU student wins international business scholarship

 BHSU business student, Samantha Johnson, recently received a $7,000 scholarship from Zonta International, a worldwide organization of business professionals working to advance the status of women.  Johnson is one of 12 students worldwide to receive the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship.

Grand opening set for new BHSU alumni center
Thursday, November 20, 2014 The grand opening for the Black Hills State University Joy (Proctor) Krautschun Alumni/Foundation Center is from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, with the dedication ceremony scheduled for 4 p.m. in the new center at 1531 St. Joseph St. in Spearfish, south of Lyle Hare Stadium and Ida Henton Park on the BHSU campus.  Read more...

BHSU music department to hold Holiday FanFare concert
Wednesday, November 19, 2014 The Black Hills State University community concert band and concert choir, along with the chamber singers and men’s ensemble, will perform in a Holiday Fanfare concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23 in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall. Ebola crisis unlikely to affect domestic holiday travel according to researchers at BHSU and the University of Florida

Despite concerns over the Ebola virus, a study conducted by researchers at Black Hills State University and the University of Florida reveals the majority (54 percent) of American travelers are comfortable flying in the U.S. for a leisure trip during the Thanksgiving holiday.

SD CEO to celebrate holidays at monthly networking meeting

The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO), the women’s business center at Black Hills State University, will host the monthly Women in Networking (WIN) lunch at the Spearfish Holiday Inn Swarm Room Tuesday, Dec. 9 from noon to 1 p.m.

BHSU celebrates the inauguration of Dr. Tom Jackson, Jr., as tenth university president

Community members, faculty, staff, students, and alumni gathered on the Black Hills State University campus this weekend to celebrate the inauguration of BHSU’s tenth president, Dr. Tom Jackson, Jr.  The theme for the inauguration was “Spirit of the Hills” honoring the history, geography, beauty and the people of the Black Hills.
