Description:

Black Hills State University will be participating in “National Campus Sustainability Day” Wednesday, Oct. 24 to inform the community and BHSU students about what is being done on campus and in Spearfish to decrease its impact on the environment.

An information fair will be held on the campus green from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. featuring demonstrations and informational booths as well as tours of the LEED® Certified David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union and the Life Sciences Laboratory. From 12 – 1:30 p.m. will be a keynote presentation by Second Nature – a group which educates students about how to prepare for the changing climate. The presentation will be held at Club Buzz.

Oct. 24 will also mark the launch of a campus-wide contest to further improve BHSU’s sustainability. Student groups will submit ideas on which changes should be made. The winning group’s idea will be put into practice, and the group will be given the chance to attend the Clinton Global Initiative Conference in St. Louis, Missouri.

8-9 a.m. - Free cup of coffee for anyone who brings a reusable container to the Student Union Atrium
