Summer Academic Camps

Transforming Students…In a Dynamic Learning Environment

Are you searching for a rewarding, inspiring summer experience? If you are a student, age 7 through high school, check out Black Hills State University’s summer 2014 academic camps. By attending one of our camps, you will experience a slice of college life in a safe and fun atmosphere and be able to interact with BHSU’s outstanding faculty while also gaining valuable skills and making new friends.

BHSU Summer Academic Camps:

  • Summer Exploration Institute (Creativity and Critical Thinking Education)
    The camp is designed to encourage creative and critical thinking skills in the familiar context of living in the Black Hills. The historical and contemporary links establish the importance of growth and expansion in reference to people, places and animals. Through discussions, hands on activities and field trips, participants will view the Black Hills through a new perspective.
    • June 16 - 20 (Ages 11 - 16)
    • July 7 - 11 (Ages 7 - 10)
  • Photography Boot Camp - CANCELED
    Students enrolled in this workshop will go beyond basic camera handling, and the basics of Photoshop instruction. You will have the opportunity to photograph side by side with seasoned professionals Steve Babbitt and Jerry Rawlings. Discover your inner creativity with two days of intensive and fun, photographic instruction.

  • Sustainability
    New for 2014 we will be offering Sting’s EcoExplorers Day Camp. Children ages 4-6 and 7-12 are invited to witness sustainability IN ACTION as the Black Hills State University campus transforms into a learning laboratory with activities, games, and exploration highlighting sustainability initiatives across (and under) campus.
