Veterans honored during upcoming Geek Speak at BHSU

The Veterans' Legacy Program is featured this week at the weekly Geek Speak lecture series sponsored by the Black Hills State University Honors Program. Kelly Kirk, instructor of history, is excited to share progress on the campus-wide effort to share the stories and lives of those buried at national cemeteries around the Black Hills. The Geek Speak is Thursday, Oct. 25 at 4 p.m. in Jonas Hall Room 110. The Geek Speak lecture series is free and open to the public.

Internship for BHSU student inspires job opportunities in Pine Ridge

Josie Drobny, a Black Hills State University student from Martin, recently completed a paid internship through Sanford Research aimed at preventing alcohol-exposed pregnancies among teenage girls living in the Pine Ridge Reservation. She presented her research results this month at the Great Plains Sociology Conference in Aberdeen, where she earned first place in the research poster competition. 

BHSU #Adulting Seminar allows alumni to give back to campus, students to prepare for post-graduation

Justin Varland, head of carrier sales at Apple and an alum of Black Hills State University, will return to his alma mater this month to help students prepare for life after graduation. Varland and other BHSU alumni will share their advice with students during the #adulting Seminar on the BHSU campus Saturday, Oct. 27 from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Joy Center.
