Before the fall semester officially begins Aug. 26 at Black Hills State University, faculty and staff gathered this week with Interim President Laurie Nichols as she shared her plans and goals for the university this academic year.
Black Hills State University celebrated 13 retiring faculty and staff members during the Employee Recognition Reception held on campus recently. Altogether, this year’s retirees gave approximately 226 years of service to the University.
The fourth annual Black Hills State University Underground Robotics Competition included an expanded competition this year among four local middle schools, rather than two as in previous years, doubling the middle school students in attendance.
Two Black Hills State University physical science majors are working with scientists and engineers from around the world on the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) experiment at Sanford Underground Research Facility. Nolan Maher, a freshman from Bismark, N.D., and Erika Redinger, a junior from Spearfish, are visiting Sanford Lab two times per week this semester where they work on projects contributing to LZ. LZ is a next-generation dark matter detector.
