High school seniors who attend Black Hills State University may be eligible for $10,000 scholarships, thanks to a donation to the Horatio Alger Association Endowment by Association member T. Claudio (Sebastian) Escudero, a business major at Black Hills State University who is from Argentina, was selected as the South Dakota scholarship recipient for the World Affairs Councils of America (WACA) Conference “The Eight Forces Reshaping the Global Economy.” The Conference will be held in Washington, D.C. in November.
When Gene Schlekeway was named head football coach at Black Hills State in 1968, he had no idea how impactful the university would be in his life. Gene and his wife, Norma, will lead the 2019 Swarm Day Homecoming Parade Saturday, Sept. 28 as Parade Marshals, in honor of their contributions and support of the university.
The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Jackson Blvd. and Main Street.
Black Hills State University will induct two teams and six alumni into the Yellow Jacket Hall of Fame during the 2019 Swarm Week homecoming celebration Sept. 22-28. The recipients will be honored during the Hall of Fame Banquet Friday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. in the Jacket Legacy Room of the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union, BHSU Campus, in Spearfish.
Black Hills State University will honor five alumni during the 2019 Swarm Week homecoming celebration Sept. 22-28. The recipients will be honored during the Alumni Awards Luncheon Friday, Sept. 27 at 12 p.m. in the Joy (Proctor) Krautschun Alumni/Foundation Welcome Center in Spearfish. Tickets for the Luncheon must be purchased in advance by contacting the BHSU Alumni Office at 605-642-6385. Seating is limited.
