Black Hills State University was recognized nationally for its sustainability achievements as it was included on the annual listing of “Cool Schools.” BHSU is the only South Dakota school included in the listing.
Outside of the classroom walls, Black Hills State University student Erin Broberg’s steel-toed shoes and hard hat can be found in an office in Lead, S.D., at the Sanford Underground Research Facility, a world-class research facility that conducts experiments almost a mile underground.
Justin Varland, head of carrier sales at Apple and an alum of Black Hills State University, will return to his alma mater this month to help students prepare for life after graduation. Varland and other BHSU alumni will share their advice with students during the #adulting Seminar on the BHSU campus Saturday, Oct. 27 from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Joy Center.
Black Hills Energy will present a $10,000 check to Black Hills State University Friday, Oct. 19 to help fund technology for a School of Business Technology Classroom. The community is invited to the presentation and classroom tour to be held at 1:15 p.m. in Meier Hall room 205 on the BHSU campus in Spearfish.
Art students often want to know more about faculty member’s own personal work outside of the classroom; this is their chance. Black Hills State University fine arts faculty will present “Beyond the Classroom” Thursday, Oct. 18 at 4 p.m. in Jonas Hall Room 110. At no cost to the public, this event is open to the community as an ongoing continuation of the Geek Speak lecture series.
