In celebration of Arbor Day, Black Hills State University students, staff and community members helped make the campus a bit greener.
The group planted trees and helped with the pruning of trees on campus April 24. The event was held during Outdoor Week at BHSU. The Arbor Day celebration was coordinated through BHSU’s new tree planting committee, whose goal is to increase the number and diversity of trees on campus.
Black Hills State University students captured the beauty of the outdoors during a special photography contest recently.
To celebrate Outdoor Week at BHSU April 20-25, students entered original photographs in the Outdoor Week Photography Contest that depicted outdoor activities, landscapes and lifestyles. BHSU held a variety of events during the week that celebrated learning, living, working and playing in the Black Hills.
A Black Hills State University sustainability project, Spearfish Local, helps local farmers and producers promote healthy, local food through community awareness. Not only does the project encourage the economy’s growth but it also invites more farmers to grow fresh vegetables in South Dakota.
