(One available) You will have an opportunity to speak for 3 minutes in front of all attendees prior to introducing the speaker. Your support will also cover the costs of refreshments for the talk.

BUSINESS-STUDENT SPEED DATING - $400
(One available) You will have an opportunity to speak for 3 minutes in front of all attendees.
This is an adaptation of a buyer meets seller format. Participating businesses will be divided into several segments (e.g. attractions, accommodations, restaurants, DMOs, transportation). Students and businesses will have 10 minutes each to discuss topics pertaining to that industry. After 10 minutes, students will move to another table related to a different segment of the tourism industry.

PHOTO RECEPTION & EXHIBITION- $300
(Several available) Sponsor refreshments for the photo exhibition reception as well as the exhibition. The Reception will be held on October 4th in the evening. The exhibition will run for two week. Every time the public goes to the exhibition, they will see YOUR logo.

Executive Summary of 2016 World Tourism Day

The 2016 World Tourism Day at Black Hills State was attended by 104 attendees including students, faculty members, tourism businesses, government agencies, the public, and elected officials. 

Two speakers spoke at the luncheon: Cheryl A. Schreier, Superintendent at Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Dr. Keith Barney, a Paralympic athlete, 2002 Winter Olympic Torchbearer, and disability advocate.

The following are key findings from the post event survey that was completed by 68 percent of the attendees.

  • Out of those who completed the survey, THM students were represented by 40 percent of the sample, student non-THM was 20 percent of the sample, business-exhibitor was represented by 20 percent, while business –non-exhibitor was 5 percent, and faculty and staff comprised 15 percent of the sample.
  • More than 80 percent of the attendees indicated that they were both satisfied and very satisfied with the overall event.
  • Specifically, on a scale of 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent), respondents indicated that the following parts of the event were very good: scheduling and timing (4.45), vendor/exhibitor management (4.34), luncheon (4.00), both speakers (4.45), cost and pricing (4.35), businesses and students speed dating (4.43)
  • The following are a few examples of respondents’ favorite parts of the event:

  • Two third of students indicated that the event has positively affected their knowledge and perception of the tourism industry. For THM students almost all indicated that the event enhanced their academic interests in the tourism industry.
  • In general, the majority of participants (80 percent) indicated a high interest in attending the 2017 World Tourism Day.
