Black Hills State University alumni and friends living in the Washington, D.C. area gathered at a reception recently to share memories of and show support for their alma mater.

More than 1,600 miles separate Washington, D.C. from the campus in Spearfish, but for recent graduate Chase Vogel, the connections to BHSU remain strong.

"I'm very happy to have attended the reception and to see some of my favorite familiar faces," said Vogel. "There was great energy and networking at the event."

Shauna Junek, director of development at BHSU, said 150 BHSU alumni live in the D.C. area.

"It is great to see everyone connecting and sharing what we all have in common-the legacy of being BHSU Yellow Jackets," said Junek.
