Black Hills State University business students and faculty were initiated into a prestigious, international honor society during a special ceremony recently.

BHSU inducted 24 business students and 19 faculty into the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society during a special ceremony in the Joy Alumni Welcome Center. Beta Gamma Sigma is an international honor society that serves AACSB International-accredited (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) universities.

Dr. Priscilla Romkema, dean of the College of Business and Natural Sciences at BHSU, said that membership into Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive through a business program accredited by AACSB International. The Beta Gama Sigma Chapter at BHSU was officially charted on March 19.

Only 727 schools of business, worldwide, have earned AACSB accreditation, including BHSU.

Among the students and faculty initiated, BHSU President Dr. Tom Jackson, Jr., Dr. Rod Custer, provost and vice president of academic affairs at BHSU, and Dr. Priscilla Romkema, dean of the College of Business and Natural Sciences were initiated also.
