The Black Hills State University concert band and choir will perform Oct. 17 and 18 in the Clare &amp Josef Meier Hall on campus. The event is free and open for the public.

Two bands will take part in the BHSU community concert Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Meier Hall.

"They will play three full band arrangements. We will have three movements and each has a different Irish folk song," said Dr. David Berberick, director of bands and assistant professor of music at BHSU.

The concert band has around 60 members and is collaboration between BHSU students and community members.

"We will be playing some fun music like the classic &lsquoFlourish for Wind Band&rsquo, &lsquoAir for Band&rsquo and some exciting pieces like &lsquoLord Tullamore&rsquo and the &lsquoLord of the Rings Symphony&rsquo," said Berberick.

The BHSU choir will perform on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Meier Hall. The choir includes community members, BHSU students and alumni. The ensemble will perform a variety of African American spiritual tunes, some including traditional dancing.

"There will be something performed during the concert for everyone," Berberick said. "The concerts will give you taste what we are doing at Black Hills State. Those attending will enjoy the variety of music."
