The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) at Black Hills State University served cookies to veterans in honor of Patriot Day on Sept. 11.

RSVP partnered with the Black Hills Foster Grandparent Program for the event. Nearly 490 volunteers served the cookies at the newly remodeled Student Veterans Center on campus. The BHSU dining services, A&rsquoviands, baked the cookies.

RSVP helps volunteers 55 years old and older find volunteer opportunities in the community and help non-profits fill permanent and temporary volunteer needs.

Nancy Wietgrefe, the RSVP director at BHSU, said Patriot Day is a day of remembrance and service, and they group wanted to honor service men and women for their work and dedication.
