BHSU hosts live simulcast of international leadership conference

Black Hills State University faculty, staff, students and community members will have an opportunity to hear from former First Lady Laura Bush, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and several other world leaders during a Leadercast Live simulcast Friday, May 9 in the Jacket Legacy Room of the David B. Miller Student Union.  

Leadercast Live is a one-day leadership event broadcast live from Atlanta to hundreds of locations around the world. This year&rsquos theme of "Beyond You" challenges leaders to leverage their influence for the sake of others.

Leadercast was built on a belief that the world needs better leaders &ndash leaders worth following. During the Leadercast Live simulcast, individuals can access the knowledge and experience of world renowned leaders, according to Dr. Mitch Hopewell, interim director of distance education graduate programs.

"The internationally recognized speakers come from a wide spectrum of leadership perspectives everyone will learn something," Hopewell said.

Speakers for the Leadercast Live event include:

   Andy Stanley & leadership communicator and best-selling author

   Malcolm Gladwell  - award-winning journalist and best-selling author

   Archbishop Desmond Tutu &ndash Nobel Laureate and human rights activist

   Randall Wallace &ndash screenwriter, director, producer and songwriter

   Bill McDermott &ndash CEO of SAP AG, a German multinational software corporation

   Laura Schroff &ndash former advertising sales executive and best-selling author

   Dr. Henry Cloud &ndash clinical psychologist and leadership consultant

   Simon Sinek &ndash leadership expert and best-selling author

   Laura Bush &ndash former First Lady of the United States

   Cat Deeley &ndash Leadercast Co-Host

   Tripp Cosby &ndash Leadercast Co-Host


The cost of Leadercast Live is $10 for students $29 for educational, non-profit and veterans and $39 for the general public. The registration includes lunch.

A scholarship opportunity is also available for BHSU students. The Uttke Student Leader Award is a competitive scholarship intended to support and promote student leadership development. Scholarships will be awarded in three different categories: freshmen/sophomore junior/senior and graduate students.

Leadcast Live is possible through a donation from a Spearfish community member who is dedicated to creating additional leadership opportunities throughout the area.
