Jace DeCory, a long-time assistant professor of history and American Indian studies at BHSU, donated artwork to the Student Veteran Center, in honor of her late husband Sam DeCory. Sam was a 1984 BHSU graduate and served in the 5th Special Forces Green Beret.

The artwork was given to Sam in the early 1970s after his return from Vietnam.

"Sam loved his fellow Vets and he would appreciate the artwork going to the Vets Center," DeCory said. "And now more people can appreciate it."

"Donations of memorabilia such as this are a great reflection of the bond that veterans share across generations and branches of service," said David Dodson, veterans&rsquo resource coordinator at BHSU. "Student veterans and community members are welcome and encouraged to donate items including unit patches, pictures, and other memorabilia for display in the Veterans Center."

The Student Veteran Center, located in the BHSU Student Union, was remodeled last spring. A grand re-opening was held recently, honoring student veterans and the commitment BHSU has to making sure student veterans succeed academically.
